NA 105 Terminology Standards Committee
DIN as a technical standards body also defines the terminology for each specific technical field. It takes active role as an authority for the specialised languages of the various technical fields. Each standards committee is responsible for the terminology within its own scope. Standards committee terminology (NAT, short for Normenausschuss Terminologie), however, defines the principles and methods for the terminology work of the other committees. Also included are the tools and techniques for terminology work, translation practise and lexicography. Most prominent are the following issues: Principles of defining concepts and coining terms, preparation and layout of specialised dictionaries, computer applications for terminology work and lexicography, terminology of terminology, practise of terminology work and technical translation. The NAT represents the German interests on the international level (ISO) within ISO/TC 37 Terminology and other language resources.
